Top 5 Weird Game shows
1 Find The Chair
2 Hole in the Wall
This one is probably one of the most entertaining to watch that we’ve seen today. The game was pretty simple, a wall with an odd shaped hole in it would move towards a contestant who was standing on a platform over water. If the contestant could match the shape well the wall would move past them and they would move on, if they didn’t match well, then the wall would keep moving and inevitably push the contestant into water. This game show was inspired by a japanese show that had the same concept, quite entertaining, but weird as all heck.
3 Identity
Remember as a child you were told not to judge a book by its cover? Well this show wanted to ruin that for us. For one season in 2006 Penn Jellette of “Penn and Tellar” hosted a not so tasteful show called “Identity”, although it probably should have been called “stereotype”. Guests were told identifying factors of a specific people such as their age, interests, career etc, then they had to link those facts to a random group of people, knowing nothing about these people except what they look like. Good holsome, potentially offensive, family fun.
4 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show
This show just barely missed the mark. 101 ways to leave a game show involved plucking contestants one by one off the show as they lose in very clever and ridiculous ways, for example lifting them away on a chopper by their feet, getting dropped into water from various heights in clever ways, or by pulling levers and dropping contestants in bungee jumping like manners. The only real downfall of the show is that all they did is ask the players trivia...which made the show sorta boring.
5 The Chair and The Chamber
Nothing says entertainment like airing torture for the public to see, oh but lets also ask the person trivia for money. Well both Fox and ABC put out shows that did just this in 2002. ABC cleverly came up with The Chair and Fox came up with The Chamber. They included hurricane force winds, freezing cold temperatures, flames that brought temperatures up to 150 degrees, don’t worry there were occasionally bees and alligators. Basically all things that no person should really have to endure. Both shows were so similar that the two networks were actually in a legal battle over who came up with the idea first, which is funny because the shows were both pretty bad and pulled off the air very quickly.
