Top 3 Man Made Wonders

1 - The Great Wall of China

This amazing structure is a walkway which stretches from Dandong in the east, all the way to Lop Lake in the west, the wall measures, with all of its branches, roughly 13,171 miles. Considered one of the seven wonders of the wall, this wall which is great is essentially a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and in some places, the bodies of the workers who worked on the construction of this enormous endeavor. This greatest of all walls, was constructed in order to protect Chinese states and empires against the rains and invasions of the various nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe, including, those highly aggressive and combative Mongolians of the time. The wall began construction in the 7th Century of B C, but continued to be built throughout history, with maintenance stretching through current years.

2 - Leaning Tower of Pisa

This freestanding Bell Tower, found in Italy, is the third oldest structure in the city of Pisa's Cathedral Square. The tower's unique tilt began during the first stages of construction, which took place during the 12th century. The foundation of the ground was too soft to support the weight of the enormous structure, causing the entire tower to lean to the right. The tilt increased as time went on. By its completion in the 14th century, the tower had the additional adjective leaning thrown into the title.  Several strange claims to fame for this tower which leans: Galileo once dropped two cannonballs of different masses from the top of the tower, in order to demonstrate that the speed of descent is independent of mass. And, during World War II, the Allies discovered that the Germans were using the tower as an observation and sniper post. However, a United States Army Sergeant was so impressed by the beauty of the cathedral, that he refrained from ordering an artillery strike. Instead, the allies launched a foot attack, freeing the tower from German forces.

3 - Machu Picchu

Some call this place, the most beautiful and impressive ancient site still available for viewing in the modern world. And this gorgeous monumental city was nearly lost forever, for centuries the ancient metropolis lay hidden, high in the mountains which border the clouds above the Urubamba Valley. This lost city of the Incas remains invisible from below and stands completely self-contained, surrounded by agricultural terraces and watered by natural springs. It wasn't until 1911, that a Hawaiian historian named Hiram Bingham rediscovered the fabled city. The Incan estate was constructed around 1450, but was abandoned a century later during the Spanish Conquest. The three primary structures found inside are, the Temple of the Sun, the Room of the Three Windows, and the Intihuatana. The Intihuatana is a ritual stone which functions as an astronomic clock and calendar, one last memento left over from the mysterious, ancient civilization of the Incas.
